Going Somewhere (Places?)

Today I'm leaving, going away for a week. I'll tell u all about it when I get back Sunday Ok! If possible I'll try to update along the way, other wise until Sunday then. And somebody, please review the AIM 15 alright!

AF6 Concert 7

Wah..concert 7 sudah..3 weeks lagi final. Oops salah! bukan konsert 7, konsert 6! Today, performance wise not so bad. Pengacara biasala..masih karakter CMP nya. Badut gila. Dan kalau di abaikan opening bodoh persandingan Khai-Rosma yang mengambil masa..berapa.?.1/2 jam..(sudahla aku menyampah dgn budak berdua ni!) kira nda seksa sangat la konsert tadi. Mungkin juga pelajar sudah semakin kurang ni bearable sikit kita melayan konsert kan? Anyway....

1. Stanly -
Dia ni memang nda dapat diselamatkan lagi kan. Begitu la tu. Suara besar nda boleh control. Aku benci la bila dia terlampau ligat menari tu ...satu, suara terus lari...dua, nampak betul 'tin rendah' nya ...tangan lebih pendek dari....ok stop! say no more. He's crap. That's all.

2. Alif -
OK. He's OK. Lagu ni yang buruk sebenarnya..ituu2 saja liriknya..tapi yang penting...baju APA kah itu?? banyak pangkat di bahu? Dan aku suka komen Adlin..hik!

3. Nadia -
Eee...baju rama-rama....gaya showmanship pun rama-rama...kena konsep la konon...berkarih-karih jua c costume designer mengait renda rama-rama atu....

4. Toi -
AC...apa kaitan VT lagu hindustan tu dengan dia main angklung sebelah Ariel???
Best kan dia dpt lagu hit Peter Pan, lepas tu jumpa Ariel lagi personally. And what did he do? Lupa lirik. Bebal!!
I like Adnan Abu Hassan's comments. And the kids seem to understand him. He's a better vocal teacher. Siti Hajar & Syafi couldn't get across them.

5. Nubhan -
Kerja dia ni...lepas ja chorus mesti sumbang kan? He doesn't like the song and it shows...I hope he's out soon..beside that he doesn't improve, I'm also getting sick with AC doing the Negeri dialect...ituuuuuuu saja....... tiada modal lain!

As always, she's outstanding, flawless! tapi aku takut juga kalau dia melabuk dari sofa tu...barula terus don't speak....tapi baju!!!!! kalau ya pun menunjukkan orang sasau..!

6. Riz -
Oh...sekarang dorang taruh Stacy dgn Riz last2 kan..sebab ini dua saja penyelamat konsert.
OK. He did ok like usual...dan dia sekarang selalu dipakaikan baju kot kan..supaya nda nampak gemuk sgt kali...tapi itu cebisan alumunium foil di bahu sila tanggalkan! Satu lagi..I hope final nanti...dorang kasi dia haircut baru...rimas aku tengok rambut dia tu... macam Yazer mula2 dulu kan...ganas tapi rambut macam baby doll...lepas Astro revamp..baru OK.

7. Rina -
'Pernah mimpi ular?'....come on AC!!!......basi..basi.!!..and I don't miss her. Bye! bye!

I didn't pay attention to the carta undian..so I don't know who's likely to go to the final based on sms. But based on performance, I guess this :

For the 5th place, all 3 I don't like..so it doesn't matter who got through.

Some Friday

A less than pleasant day for me today. I had to go to Bank Islam for some transactions. They've moved to the new UMNO building. Nice new office and all TAPI punyala sengsara jalan keluar masuk nya...situ jalan masuk situ juga jalan keluar..mana kereta semua berparking lagi kiri kanan..seriously jadi macam jalan kampung yang narrow gila..motosikal saja boleh limpas. Huh!

Afternoon, I wanted to go out for some supplies, but suddenly gales of howling wind blew outside..tingkap pun bergegar2...aduh apa ini....puting beliung ka...it really was some sort of typhoon. The kids were unhappy to be ordered inside and not allowed on bicycles which obliged me to make them their favorite popia to cheer up the long faces. But barely 10 minutes in process, it blacked out! 2nd time for today. Adehh....out came the emergency light again. I ploughed on. I was determined to finish the whole packet and stock them up in the freezer. Maka berbekalkan cahaya lampu bateri, dengan gigihnya akak menggulung popia sampai habis. And then I remembered my frozen cheesecake! I should slice them before it thaw!. So I ran to the fridge and gladly found it was still hard . There! look much better. (thanx Min)

The power came back after 2 hours or so and I quickly cook my rice. Penat akak berlari-lari ni! (my maid just left for the weekend). By this time, the strong wind turned to heavy rain. When my hubby came in, he looked dishevelled. What I didn't realized while making popias was, the gardener 's hut was almost blown apart! Oh dear...why didn't I check on him...

Ok no one got hurt. Tomorrow we'll bulldoze the thing anyway and get them a new place for a while.

Lemon Chicken

Another chicken dish for dinner. This time lemon chicken. Delicious. I should congratulate the author of The Malaysian Cook Book, where the recipe come from. Easy and proven good!

So here it is Sri. The must-buy cookbook. Preston published, only RM 39 from MPH (not Aust).

There are glossaries on herbs and spices, for clueless like me who have no idea what is daun kaduk and daun salam, etc.

It's co-wrote by 2 chefs, one chinese muslim man and another malay woman.

How It All Began

Unbaked cheesecake. This is the cake that started my craze in cheese. The first time I tasted it, (Alinaz stall - Anjung Senja, 8 yrs ago) I thought oh god, this is the best cake ever! Ultimate cheese flavor. And then I learned u don't have to have an oven. Excellent! I must try. You don't always find this version of cheesecake in the bakery, it's always the baked one.


This afternoon I made one, but instead of the usual condensed milk ingredient I used double cream and top it with blueberry pie filling. Very light fluffy taste and not so 'tajam' the cheese (if u know what I mean).The picture isn't very nice looking. I haven't mastered the art of cutting a cake with crumbly crust base. The bottom crust is ok, the problem is with the side (I'm using a pie dish instead of springform tin). They get all crumbly and fall off when u cut a piece. Appreciate any tip from learned bakers out there.

Dinner Is Ready

Dinner is ready ! but ..POPP!!!! blackout!! aiyya!! the chicken in the oven made it just before the power cut. Lama juga ya blackout nya...do u think maybe the contractors at the airport accidently digged on the cable ?

Tapi lain cerita....sedap wo...ayam ni! This is the recipe of Hainanese Chicken Rice I found in Malaysian Food CookBook- another great buy from hubby. Very easy to do but very yummmy...(i always think chinese cooking is the best). You only boil the chicken whole with ginger and salt, drained, slather it with sesame oil and set aside for serving (but I add another step of roasting it a bit to make the skin crispy). The soy sauce to pour all over chicken is a combination of light soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar & seasoning (ajinomoto). That's all. But it's real tasty. A must try one. I highly recommend it to whimsy. Sedap Val! and u can whip it up in no time! Everybody had second helpings, the kids whose favourite dish is always chicken, tambah sampai 3 kali! no kidding. I could use this recipe again.

AF6 Concert 5

In my opinion, masih tahap sampah sarap until Stacy came out!
Semuanya azab, dari host ke wardrobe ke performance ke video clip y ntah apa-apa!
So 'gerigetan' with AC for butting rudely when judges gave comment while he himself taking up time with his pointless, tasteless, not funny-at-all jokes! Didn't he see that nobody is laughing? matila feeling funny pada jokes sendiri ! Bolehka AF batalkan kontrak dia ni?

Ok on with the performance review.

1. Aliff -
First performance and I just knew this show is going to be crap again. He didn't seem to know what to do except shuffling his feet and the 'mau nda mau' singing. And the crowd clapped for Adam ok, not you. Failure.

2. Stanley -
Si Ninja Turtle ni sorry to say...he's better off out there with his mom..seriously. Horrible.

3. Nadia-
Not vocally awful, but everything seemed out of place kan? From the garish make-up, to the metallic dress (?), to the silly dancing. A waste.
Motif AC? apa kelebihan Aliff? Tiba-tiba! punchline?

4. Rina -
Over ! padahal suara ala kadar saja. Baju ala-ala drag queen!

5. Toi -
Suicidal performance. Enuf said! Sean Khana pun buang masa! Should allot more time to Hetty.

6. Saida -
Dia ni mestila nyanyi yang x 100%. Half hearted. Itula ko keluar! Shouldn't be her turn yet actually. I thought Nubhan was worst. But she'll be eliminated sooner or later. So.. jaga anak d rumah saja la. Kalau mo menang hadiah semua minta adik ko belikan saja.
(Si Ibu Kartini over perasan betul cakap lagu dia memang susah.Ceh!)

7. Nubhan -
Worst of the night. Sumbang mambang. Stupid cheapskate VT.

8. Stacy -
Ha! barula performance nda tertidur! tapi koreograf lucah tu...nda payah la ulang2 bah kan..boring la pulak..but she rocked the house!

9. Riz -
Consistent. I don't like him crawling the stage, though, but he made it through overall. Memang heran dengan baju dia ?!

Dusun Wedding

Today I attended the wedding of my..biras..punya..anak buah. (whimsy, c Wilfred Kurin punya nephew bah!). Wilfred or Farid Abdullah is the husband of my hubby's sister. The reception is held at his sister's (mother of the groom) home in Kg Keliangau, Menggatal. A bit deep up the hill. father of the groom welcoming guests

Too Much Of A Good Thing

Did I eat too much? You bet !

It all started Sunday when I eventually set foot on Brass Monkey-Tg Aru Plaza. The kids enjoyed it! Everything, the pizza, the sandwich, the fish & chips, the bread pudding. Even my mom-in law savoured the fish&chips. Me? I had the set lunch of grilled fish. Was good..xcept I don't fancy much the choice of fish. They use barracuda. A bit hard texture like meat. But I love everything else.

So, the next day I was out on my own, to the bank and stuffs. I got pissed by the parking problem and this next thing always happen, I tend to counter the bad feeling by going somewhere nice and have a fabulous lunch. And I have no qualms about eating out on my own.

Ok the place is not exactly fabulous. Quite tiny with just enough space to move about. But the food is good. It's good. And as Shabbymom said, RM 15.50 is so worth it. I mean u spend like RM 27 at Secret Recipe and it's not that great. You don't get soup and dessert.

OK let's not waste time justifying. What did I have? I took the buffet set lunch. Except for the nasi goreng and sayur timun ( a no-brainer! it's a western, keep it western man!), I sampled everything else.

I started with the soup. Buffet - u can go crazy with the croutons & garlic bread which I did! Hmmm...excellent appetizer..

I had the salad. They've got the potato&apples and green salad.

The main course, first I sampled pasta with bolognaise sauce and tried both the beef dish-beef stew and grilled beef. (motif dua2 beef !). Both are great. At this juncture, I feel the next table was watching me so I stopped snapping photos. After they left, I carried on. Hence this almost gone dish..

Bangun lagi (xcuse me!) for the next course. Pasta with white sauce, 2 pc of lamb, honey chicken, mash potato, grilled fish and a dish of chicken with mushroom in white sauce- I don't know what's the name. All are finger licking!

And..actually I got up to take another piece of the lamb..(matilah tebarus!).

After slowly sipping my drink and finally admitting I couldn't stuff no more, I finished with dessert of bread pudding and some papaya slices.

I'm actually quite embarrased. I was behaving like as if I'm a professioal food critic who review newly opened restaurant in a certain magazine. Taking pictures before eating and sampling every damn thing with a serious face. Kah..kah...kah..

Letting Go

It breaks my heart to part with my old furnitures, none of which could fit in with the new home decor. God knows I love teak furnitures. Looking at these cabinets all empty now, is painful. I just have fond memories of them as they made the beginning of my passion in english country interior, once upon a time. I'm one of those people who hold on to their treasured belongings a bit ferociously. I don't have many pieces, but I treasure them. my first buy from Teak Village

There are a couple more I had to leave behind , the one housing my crystals and a small corner cabinet where I used to display my bone chinas. We did try to bring it in here and blend, but it terribly mismatched with the present interior, absolutely couldn't work with the design.

And then there are little decors that hubby refrained me from bringing along. He won't have the walls crowded with these. (it's not a CROWD, only 2 !!)

Heck! I'll find a way! I have no choice for the furnitures, but these little cuties are staying with me! I won't give them away. I won't.

What can I say? Merudum! Maybe the songs selection isn't helping either.
I'm gonna make a quick review anyway.

AC kalau tiada idea lain utk intro, nda payahla gimik2 tu..start sajala terus. Memekik sorang-sorang konon opening..bosan!

Kenduri Doa Selamat Pindah Rumah @ 10 April

Held our housewarming pray & feast last night. Originally intended to be around May, but we've been here almost a month and it didn't feel right to delay too long.

Very happy with the food, as everybody raved about it. Everything is tasteful down to the coffee.So 5 star to the caterer - Sri Pinang.
